Interview mit JGSW

JGSW ist einer der drei Art Of Creation: Eternity Artists und hat vor zwei Wochen seinen ersten Track auf dem Label veröffentlicht. Wir hatten die Möglichkeit, ein ausführliches Interview mit ihm zu führen und ihm ein paar persönliche Fragen zu stellen.

Mein Name ist Myron, ich bin fast 22 Jahre alt und komme aus den Niederlanden. 2011 habe ich angefangen mit FL Studio Hardstyle zu produzieren, nachdem ich vom Noisecontrollers Defqon.1 Anthem „Unite“ aus dem Jahr 2011 inspiriert wurde. Seit dem mache ich Hardstyle.

 

Harte Kicks mit fesselnden Melodien, die eine Geschichte erzählen und etwas Geheimnisvolles ausstrahlen.

 

In 2011 zeigte mir einer meiner Freunde die Defqon.1-CD, welche er sich von seinem Bruder geliehen hatte. Die erste CD wurde von Zatox gemixt und enthielt irgendwo in der Mitte des Mixes das Defqon.1 Anthem von Noisecontrollers. Mein Freund mochte den Track wirklich sehr und wollte ihn mir zeigen. Ich mochte ihn auch und wollte dann mehr von dem Genre hören. Nachdem ich selbst nach etwas Musik suchte, wurde ich süchtig danach und konnte von dem Moment an nichts anderes mehr als Hardstyle hören. Ich bin heute dankbar dafür, dass er mir den Track gezeigt hat, andernfalls wäre ich heute vielleicht nicht dort, wo ich bin.

 

Als ich hörte, dass Headhunterz einen Demo-Stream macht, wollte ich ihm unbedingt ein Demo schicken, in der Hoffnung etwas Feedback zu meinem Track zu bekommen. Headhunterz gefiel der Track wirklich sehr und er wollte wissen, ob ich bei einem Label unter Vertrag stehe. Er fragte, ob ich mehr Musik schicken könnte und nach einer Weile wurde mir gesagt, dass Art Of Creation mich gerne im Team hätte. Wir hatten einige Online-Meetings und mir fiel nicht ein einziger Grund ein, warum ich das Angebot ablehnen sollte. Ich hatte ein wirklich gutes Gefühl und das hat sich nicht geändert.

 

Am 28. Mai wollten wir feiern, dass wir beim Sublabel unterschrieben haben, also entschied das Team, dass wir uns bei Wildstylez treffen. Es war ein verrücktes Erlebnis, die drei Legenden zu treffen und die Möglichkeit zu haben, ein lässiges Gespräch mit ihnen zu führen, so als wären wir Freunde, die sich schon sehr lange kennen. Es fühlte sich alles sehr natürlich an und hat jede Menge Spaß gemacht. Jeder Künstler hat ein Interview gegeben, was ihr vielleicht schon auf dem YouTube-Kanal von Art Of Creation gesehen habt. Haha, gute Frage! Das AOC Team hat die Farben ausgesucht. Ich weiß nicht wirklich, warum wir die Farbe bekommen haben, die wir haben. Aber wenn ihr mich fragt, ist es ein cooler Touch. Die farbigen Herzen sind auch so eine Art Ding geworden und wir benutzen sie heute immer noch.

 

Ich wusste, dass Headhunterz unsere Tracks spielte, aber ich könnte es nicht glauben, wenn ich es nicht gesehen hätte. Als der Defqon.1-Stream live war, trafen wir uns mit ein paar Freunden, um es gemeinsam zu schauen. Als Headhunterz auflegte, stand ich einfach nur da und konnte mich kaum bewegen. Ich finde es immer noch schwer zu realisieren, dass einer der größten Künstler in unserer Szene mich unterstützen möchte. Es ist verrückt zu denken, dass das jetzt Realität ist.

Anfangs sollte der Track eine Collab sein, aber er war schon fertig bevor der andere Künstler ihn berühren konnte. Ich kam in den Flow und die Ideen kamen einfach so. Ich habe mehrere Tage an dem Track gearbeitet und kaum eine Pause gemacht. Nach einer Weile trittst du einen Schritt zurück und schaust dir an, was du geschaffen hast. Dann realisierst du: Das ist es!

 

Noisecontrollers war schon immer eine große Inspiration für mich. Die Melodien, das Sounddesign, die Atmosphäre, es ist alles da. Mit ihm zusammenzuarbeiten war schon immer ein Traum von mir.

Muse ist auch eine große Inspiration für mich. Bevor ich angefangen habe, zu produzieren, habe ich ihre Musik sehr oft gehört. Ihre Chord Progressions sind der Wahnsinn, das ist echt genau das Zeug, was ich gerne machen und hören möchte.

 

„JGSW“ ist die Abkürzung von „Jigsaw“. Ich habe den Namen gewählt, weil meine Musik wirklich die Bedeutung dahinter reflektiert. Jigsaw ist ein Puzzle, welches eine gute Art ist, die musikalische Seite meiner Tracks zu beschreiben, denke ich.

 

Ich möchte unbedingt den rockigen Stil in meinen kommenden Tracks beibehalten. Ich liebe es, mit diesen Sounds zu arbeiten und bekomme jede Menge Inspiration davon. Bevor ich mit dem Produzieren angefangen habe, habe ich diese Art von Musik auch sehr oft gehört, deshalb macht es für mich nur Sinn, diese Elemente weiterhin zu benutzen. Ich möchte auch einige Collabs mit anderen Künstlern machen. Euch erwartet in regelmäßigen Abständen Musik während ich mich in dem neuen Kapitel meines Lebens zurechtfinde.

Back in 2011 a friend of mine showed the Defqon.1 CD he borrowed from his brother. The first CD was mixed by Zatox and contained the Defqon.1 anthem by Noisecontrollers somewhere in the middle of the mix. My friend really liked that track and wanted to show it to me. I really liked it myself as well and became interested to hear more of the genre. After searching up some music myself, I became hooked and couldn't listen to anything else other than Hardstyle from that moment on. To this day I am thankfull he showed me that track, otherwise I might not be where I am today.

After hearing Headhunterz was doing a demo stream I really wanted to send him a demo in the hopes of getting some feedback on my track. Headhunterz really liked the track a lot and was interested if I was signed to a label. He asked if I could send some more music and after a while I was told the Art of Creation team would like me to join them. We've had a few online meetings and I couldn't find one single reason why I would refuse the offer. I had a really good feeling about it and that hasn't changed.

28th of May we wanted to celebrate we signed to the sublabel, so the team decided to meet up at Wildstylez's place. It was a crazy experience to meet up with the 3 legends and to be able to have a casual conversation as if it were friends you knew from a long time ago. Haha, good question! The AoC team decided on the colors. I don't really know why we got the color we got, but it's a cool touch if you ask me. The colored hearts kind of became a thing too and we still use it today.

I knew Headhunterz played our tracks but I couldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it. At the time the Defqon.1 stream was live, we met up with a bunch of friends to watch it together. When Headhunterz played I was just standing there and I could barely move. I still find it hard to realize one of the biggest artists in our scene wants to support me. It's crazy to think this is reality now.

At first the track was supposed to be a collab but the track was already finished before the other could touch it. I got into the flow and the ideas just started coming in. I was working on the tracks for days with barely taking any pause. After a while you take a step back and look at what you did. It's then you realize: This is the one.

Noisecontrollers has always been a big inspiration to me. The melodies, sound design, atmosphere, it's all there. Collaborating with him has always been a dream of mine.

Muse is also a very big inspiration for me. I used to listen to them a lot before I started producing. Their chord progressions are insane, it's really the type of stuff I like to make and listen to.

“JGSW” is short for 'Jigsaw'. I chose the name because my music really reflects the meaning behind it. Jigsaw is a puzzle, which I think is a good way to describe the musical side of my tracks.

I really want to keep the rock style in my upcoming tracks. I love to work with these sounds and I get a lot of inspiration from it. I also used to listen to that kind of music a lot before I started producing, so it only makes sense for me to keep using these elements. I also want to do some collabs with other artists. You can expect music on a regular basis as I settle into this new chapter of my life.
